Air mattress troubleshooting

Here are the most commonly reported "faults" with air mattresses, and quick ways to resolve them.
"The mattress is losing pressure"
⇒Check the CPR valve - often the CPR release valve has been opened, intentionally or inadvertently, and not been sealed shut again. Solution: Carefully check that the CPR release valve is shut and properly sealed.
⇒The pump has had the incorrect pressure set, typically too low for the residents weight, leading to “bottoming out”. Be aware that the incorrect pressure setting, can lead to tissue breakdown and pressure ulcers. Solution: obtain advice from a member of staff who has been trained in the use of this mattress and find out if this mattress is set to the correct pressure.
⇒There is a physical disconnection in the power circuit, i.e. the lead is unplugged, damaged or the power source(wall socket) is faulty. Solution: replace the power cord, or use an alternative wall socket.
⇒There is a physical disconnection in the air circuit. Typically a the air mattress hoses might be partially or fully disconnected from the pump, or on older mattresses, there maybe a leak in the cells etc. Solution: carefully check all air hose connections for disconnections or leaks.

If none of the above checks work, or you require further assistance, call Care-Med on 08000 191 246 with the following information: mattress make, model and serial number.

Sertain® Chair Troubleshooting

"The chair is inoperative"
There are a number of simple steps to follow that can assist in many situations to get a chair working again; please follow these steps to eliminate any obvious reasons for breakdown.
⇒Carefully check the power cord? Are there any signs of breakage? Nicks? Crushing? Exposed wires? If there is any damage to the power cord, do not proceed any further - contact Care-Med on 08000 191 246, and take the chair out of use.
⇒If the power cord is undamaged, plug the chair into the mains and look behind the legrest, on the left hand side of the chair - is the green power on LED illuminated? If the light is not illuminated, do not proceed any further - contact Care-Med on 08000 191 246, and take the chair out of use.
⇒Carefully check the handset cable for damage - is it squashed, stretched, ripped etc? See our example below. If the handset or cable is damaged, contact Care-Med on 08000 191 246 to order a replacement.
⇒Check all cables and their connection into the control box? Are all cables free from damage, and securely plugged in?
⇒Finally, perform a handset reset, first identify - is your handset Phase 1, or Phase 2? Then follow the simple 3-step reset process for the appropriate handset.
